The Recoverie is all about encouraging creativity, helping new and experienced artists find more confidence in their skills, and giving you that final push to get your art out into the world

Let me guess.

You need an outlet.

No, not for your power cords, silly…a creative outlet!

Something to do outside of work that doesn’t involve a screen (after #2020 now more than ever, am I right though?)

Something that helps you remember how you used to make things with your hands.

Or maybe just a simple moment of peace to spend creating for yourself.

Whether you just need to add some crafty sparkle to your life, or you’re already an artist and want to start a creative business to take over the world, there’s a little something for everyone here.

The Recoverie community is filled with artists, crafters, designers, entrepreneurs, and art appreciators alike.

People who love to design and create.

Small creative business owners, and others who are getting up the guts to go for it…

…and those who are afraid to pick up a pencil.

If you're reading this now, my guess is that you fit into one of those descriptions,

and maybe you:

  • Aren’t sure how to get started.

  • Are a little insecure about your art skills

  • Want someone to help walk you through the process.

  • Are afraid to start a business selling your art.

You have the desire to create, but you might need a little push sometimes.

You have the skills, but you haven’t made the time.

Let me tell you, I’ve been there.

Making art takes guts. No matter how you look at it, you’re putting yourself out there for everyone to see.

But here’s the thing. I know there’s an artist inside you, and I’m determined to pull it out of you!

You can design and print that duvet cover, build that online shop, and even QUIT your damn day job and pursue your crafty dreams
if you want it bad enough…

And I want to help.

Who am I? This girl right here >>

My name’s Danielle, and I’m the one woman show behind everything at The Recoverie.

I started this rodeo back in 2010 when I decided that I was going to make a living with my art because that’s the only thing I wanted to spend my days doing as ‘work’.

I was sick of dealing with all the people who were in the way of my dreams. In the education system, in the corporate design world…I felt like I had to keep jumping through hoops and I wasn’t gonna play that game.

So Recoverie was born. And over a decade later, I’m still here kickin :)

So, what’s my story?

Well, I got through two art degrees, and all I knew was that I wanted to "start a business with my art, or something".

With a background in illustration, interior design, and an unstoppable desire to create something amazing, San Francisco was the perfect place for me to be. I packed up my stuff in Los Angeles and headed north.

I started experimenting with different mediums and methods of putting my illustrations onto fabric, and accidentally stumbled into the handmade goodness that is block printing.

After creating a line of home products, designing custom fabric for interior designers, and hosting a jillion block printing workshops around the bay for 5 years, I wanted to bring my class and all I've learned to the interwebs so that I could spread my art joy online, one block print at a time.

These days I’m in NYC teaching block printing classes online and working with creative entrepreneurs worldwide! I love that my business is flexible in this way and it’s a dream come true.

My students (online and in person) have just blown me away with their creativity and enthusiasm, and I know there are more of you out there that are ready to get your hands off of your keyboard and into some paint!

My goal here is to inspire, motivate, and give you a general kick in the ass when it comes to pursuing your crafty dreams, whatever that may be.
